Red, White and Royal Blue Review

Lauren and Georgia

By Georgia

I have to be honest, going into this book I thought it would be some sort of glorified fan-fiction. Boy was I wrong. Red White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston is a must read for everyone.

The book follows the blossoming relationship between Alex, the first son of America, and Henry, the Prince of England. Not only is the romance freaking AMAZING, there are also some really important underlying themes. McQuiston cleverly entwines these with the story. Having the ideas of acceptance, love and constantly being under the public eye all in the one book on top of it being a queer love story is just another bit of representation for the lgbtq+ community, and also make it accessible to everyone in one way or another.

All in all, I believe that Red White and Royal Blue should be read by young people everywhere. Having a book like this out in the world is a huge step forward for everyone in the lgbtq+ community to understand that there will always be people trying to drag you down, but there are more people out there willing to love you and support you.
